Maritime Studies and Marine Innovation (MSMI) – Towards a Sustainable Ocean

About the Conference
The World Bank (2017) stated that the blue economy includes a wide range of activities, including maritime transportation, sustainable fisheries, ocean litter management, renewable energy generation, climate change studies, ocean and coastal tourism. United Nations have recognized the importance of the blue economy and it was also included in the 14th goal (Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development) of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The evolution of the concept Blue Economy and its importance recognized by the countries around the world created significant interest among the public-private enterprises engaged in marine foods and maritime sectors, researchers, academicians, and policymakers in the field. To bring together researchers involved in coastal, marine and maritime research for knowledge exchange, College of Maritime Studies and Management, Chiang Mai University organizes the International Conference on Maritime Studies and Marine Innovation (MSMI). Faculty of Law, Chiang Mai University, Thailand; National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan; Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Korea; Kyoto University, Japan and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan co-hosts the conference.
